As the radical right wing in Washington plays politics with health care, lives hang in the balance. Our vision for universal care is one where our communities have the health care they need, when and where they need it. Where health care workers are able to focus on patients, not profits, and provide culturally competent care. Where we tackle the complex effects of housing, nutrition and poverty on health. Where immigration status or zip code doesn’t determine access to care. It’s a big, multi-faceted struggle, with no one, easy answer. We must fight together to save the lives threatened right now and create a system where holistic, universal care is truly a right, not a privilege. How do we do it? Together.
